Puzzles, Legends & A Claws For Concern

My first claw:

Random claws in the wroteundra:

Legends aren't afraid to exhibit the claw either. Leo Smee has a remarkably large claw as can be seen in this photograph. The man throwing a horn has a normally proportioned head, but as you can see the claw to the right of that head is enormous. Leo plays bass in doom troupe Cathedral. Maybe the enlarged claw has been developed after many years of playing his instrument?

Jean Clawed Van Damme:

This anonymous correspondent (let's for talks sake call him Andrew) has a claws for concern. Whilst driving he has noticed that the milometer has reached 333. Exactly half of 666. What if there is an accident and there is no explanation? Now investigators will have evidence on his mobile phone. The question will be; had the devil a part to play in it, or, did he crash because he was photographing and clawing at the same time. The answer is in the picture.

The Claws is probably the easiest mind bender of the bunch but separating these identical pieces is just the beginning. The greatest challenge lies in understanding how to re-assemble them correctly. The solution is completely unique in the puzzling world, requiring three moves cunning enough to outwit the slyest fox.

Random claw meanings:
  • An action created by Dennis Dumphy in Sioux Lookout Ontario, where the hand is raised in the shape of a "claw" directly in front of ones self and thrown forward and backward to the beat of a song. Usually incorporated with headbanging.
  • An acceptable alternative action to thrusting ones hand in the air during a concert.
  • A song by Oceans Over Arcane.#

Excellent article on the claw printed in Decibel Magazine. Invisible oranges!!! This has to be read!!!

The Strangest Thing

Today's first claw is strange. Take a look at the claw on the extreme left. Difficult to see the claw, but it is present. It is clear that this hand was confused. Should I extend the middle finger or form a claw? Many extensions of the middle finger are deemed to be aggressive. This is not the case here, due to the following reasons:
1. There's confusion as to whether that is a claw or an extension of the middle finger.

2. There is a fully formed claw present on the right hand side.

3. There is a subtle sign of the devil in the center of the shot.

4. An accidental claw is accompanying the lower pint of lager, indicating that a reasonable time is being had, and that there is no reason for aggression.

Exaggerated claws are being used to hold pint glasses in the next shot. Again this is strange, as you would not expect so many instances of clawing action to happen within such close proximity of each other. Personally, I have never entered a public house and seen anything like this before. Note the presence of the inverted claw and the man in the white shirt simply forming bare claws.

Some things are worthy of photographing. Some things are worthy of raising a claw to:

Here's a conflicting situation. The presence of a tuxedo in this shot would indicate a wedding. Claws being present would signal a less formal event.

This person is greeting what would appear to be a tree. Maybe his hands are clawed because he feels the tree is cold and twisted looking?

The Origin Of Claw

Claw action, while difficult for some to understand, is a commonly used method of communication in the world of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. This blog will delve into its institution, and attempt to understand the meaning of 'claw' and 'claw action'. Here is Lee Dorrian on Never Mind The Buzzcocks throwing claws:

One has to contextualise this image in order to fully understand why the former Napalm Death and current Cathedral front man threw such claws. At this point in the program, Lee had been correctly identified by a panel as being the person in a video clip from 1989. As the audience applauds, Lee steps forward and, in turn, cusps his hands upwards, with fingers fairly relaxed, to form what are referred to as 'doom claws'. Why does he do this? This blog will endeavour to answer this question.

Here are two claw shots from a music festival in Cork City. One can ascertain from these two photographs, that the formation of a claw is sometimes accompanied by an unusual facial expression.

Here are some photographs of claws captured in Youngstown Ohio. Exhibit one details a LH90clockwise. Exhibit two is quite a rare shot, in that a claw has either just been formed or is in the process of being stood down.

The last photograph from Youngstwon details rock band Sunn O))) with the drummer of Japanese three-piece Boris on vocals. Although difficult to see, he has his left hand clasped, while two members of the audience raise their hands. One is seen to form a claw, whereas the other throws what would appear to be a sign of the devil.
